So those of you visiting the Telus World Ski and Snowboard festival this week in Whistler should definitely pop into the Brave Art show that I blogged about yesterday.

But while you’re in there I think that you should spend a little extra time in front of the O’Neils Surf’s Up Comp.

Individually crafted surfboards take on the controversial truths of global warming, and environmental issues concerning the world and local communities. The competition is sponsored by Surfrider Vancouver, which is no stranger to confronting the ecological and environmental issues that we encounter everyday.

Surfers and the surfboard culture have been at the forefront of environmental awareness This competition not only has inspired some incredible surf art, but also brought awareness to international issues at a local level.

For more information you should definitely check out the O’Neils Surfs Comp Blog. and for more images check out the link here.

The Surfboards will be auctioned off at the end of the festival Each one is individually decorated by a renown graphic and graffiti artist. Although not the usual investment we would talk about on the CCC, personally I think that this is a great opportunity to support a just and worth cause whilst finding something querky and unique to hang on your walls or in your beach hut!
